Located in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, the Waterloo Pioneer Memorial Tower was built in 1926. Standing at 18.9 metres or 62 feet in height, the tower is located in Kuntz Park in close proximity to the waters of the Grand River.
The Pioneer Tower is operated by Parks Canada and the site is free to visit. In 1989, it was designated as a building of historical importance. With walls built from fieldstone, it is topped by a weather vane depicting a Conestoga wagon.
If you’re passing through the area, the tower is just a short jog off the 401. Taking the King Street East exit, turn left on Pioneer Tower Road. There are a few twists and turns but you’ll to end up on Deer Ridge Drive before turning onto Lookout Lane. No, the Pioneer Tower is not on Pioneer Tower Road!
